CACL Gymnastics Club are Sussex Champions!
On Sat 2nd July, at K2 Leisure centre in Crawley, CACL acrobats competed for the coveted position of Sussex Champions.
The Sussex Championship title was won by Brett Tatham-Wood and Chloe Cox in the Grade 6 mixed pairs section. At this level the gymnasts have to perform 2 routines; one being about how well they can balance with each other and the other about performing flighted elements by throwing the top of the trio into the air.
In the lower level, they have combined routines using both balance and flighted elements. The title of Sussex Champion was won by Jessica Blake and Sofia Romnaki in the Grade 3 women’s pairs. We were runners up in the Grade 2 women’s pairs section with Lizzie Pemberton and Isla Budd. In the women’s groups, we were runners up in both the Grade 3, with Cecilie Farrant, Keely Webb-Bowen and Emily Veitch, and the Grade 2 section with Ellen Bregazzi, Aliesha Pooley and Maisie-Jayne Tarrant.
It was an excellent competition enjoyed by all. The event, held over the whole weekend, which includes many different disciplines of gymnastics was well organised and supported by the Sussex Gymnastics Association who are all volunteers.
Thanks to all coaches who worked hard to get the gymnasts ready – Lucy Kingsland and Dawn Cook.
"Thank you to all the staff involved in gymnastics summer camp. Ella’s had a fantastic time, looked forward to it every day, and was very proud of her achievements. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful."
